The John S. Strauss Spay/Neuter program provides FREE SPAYING AND NEUTERING of pets owned by qualifying low-income Santa Cruz County residents. It was made possible through the generous legacy of John Strauss in 2006. |

The program is sponsored by The Friends of Santa Cruz County Animals and administered by Santa Cruz County Animal Services at two locations:
• Santa Cruz 2200 7th Ave. • Watsonville* 580 Airport Blvd. (*NOTE: Residents of Santa Cruz County who live WITHIN THE WATSONVILLE CITY LIMITS are not eligible for this program because they are covered by the program administered by FOWAS. Click here for information on the FOWAS spay/neuter program if you live within the Watsonville city limits.) To obtain your FREE CERTIFICATE, please bring the following materials to either Scotts Valley or Watsonville: 1. PROOF OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY RESIDENCE (Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID) 2. PROOF OF INCOME at the following levels* 1 person home Maximum of $25,000 yearly 2 person home Maximum of $30,000 yearly 3 person home Maximum of $35,000 yearly 4 person home Maximum of $40,000 yearly *Income levels are adjusted quarterly to reflect availability of funds.
